Olivier Schreiber & Chao LLP (“OSC”) is excited to welcome Hannah Shirey as an associate. Hannah comes to OSC after serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Michael J. Melloy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Honorable James E. Gritzner of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
“I am thrilled to be able to join such a dedicated team of lawyers and to establish my legal career as an advocate for workers and consumers,” Shirey said.
Hannah earned her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2018, where she served as Editor in Chief of the Iowa Law Review. During law school, Hannah served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Sara Darrow of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. She was also a dedicated member of the University of Iowa Legal Clinic, where she handled a variety of civil and immigration matters. As a member of the Clinic, Hannah partnered with county bar associations and worker’s rights organizations to provide know-your-rights trainings and advocate for improved access to legal counsel for Iowa’s immigrant community. Hannah was the fifth generation of her family to attend Iowa Law – the first woman in her family to do so.
Hannah graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University in 2011, where she studied Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies. Following graduation, she worked at non-profit organizations in New York City where she was able to advocate on matters of interfaith cooperation and public education.
Hannah is licensed to practice in Iowa and California.
